Priyadarshini Pradhan is the Miss India winner of 1987.
She represented India in the Miss Universe 1987 pageant. She won the Best National Costume Award and the Best Asian contestant (Press) at the Miss Universe competition.
She then competed in the Miss World University Pageant in 1989, held in Japan, winning the crown after winning the Miss Photogenic and Miss Friendship titles.
Upon return to India she began a career as a Fashion Model with the new great era of top models, who began to change the industry in India, leading to the creation of the true Indian Supermodels.
A star student in school and college, she even had a classical Indian dance background, in Bharata Natyam, and, from a young age, did shows for charities like the National Assoc. of the Blind.
Following multiple academic awards, she obtained a BA in Psychology, followed by a MBA [Master of Business Administration] after winning Miss World University 1989, and was a U.N. Peace Ambassador for a year.
After working in Japan for Chiyobi Sirene, Priyadarshini returned to India and was swept into the world of fashion again. Ever popular, Priyadarshini did some of the best shows and appearances all over the world and was a firm favourite of designers and choreographers.
She has also done most of the big advertising campaigns like Bombay Dyeing, Camay, Rexona, Britannia, Gold Spot, Ericsson, Marlboro, Sunsilk, Carrera Watches, J Hampstead and De Beers.
She has featured in books such as Persis Khambatta's 'Pride of India' and Bidapa and Noorani's 'Catwalk Cuisine'.
She has appeared in music videos such as 'Guzare Zamane', 'Miss India' and 'Once Upon a Time' and in television programmes for the BBC, Canale5(Italy), NHK(Japan), SBC(Singapore), MBC(Mauritius), EDT(Dubai), TBV(HK), KBS(S.Korea) etc.
Within India's fashion industry she was recognised as one of the most stunning Miss Indias, as well as a highly priced ramp model with class. Her porcelain skin was her trademark.[1]
